An irrigation system that's on the fritz rarely just under-waters your lawn and stops there. A cracked head leaves patches of brown, dry grass. A head aimed the wrong way ends up soaking the driveway instead of the turf. A valve that won't seal properly leaves parts of the yard sitting in standing water, setting the stage for root rot, fungal outbreaks, and soil that can't breathe. Groundwork Lawncare handles irrigation repair for both homes and businesses throughout Agency Village, SD.
How We Approach Irrigation Repair in Agency Village, SD
We start every job with a look at the whole system, not just the part that's obviously broken. A single visible failure is often a sign that other components are quietly wearing out and due to fail before the season ends, so we test each zone on its own, check every head for proper alignment and function, verify the valves are opening and closing as they should, review the controller's programming, and inspect the backflow preventer.
Typical repairs we handle include swapping out cracked or broken heads, adjusting head height or angle to stop water from spraying where it shouldn't, fixing or replacing valves that won't open or close correctly, replacing solenoids on zones that have gone electrically dead, updating or replacing controllers once they've reached the end of their useful life, adding pressure regulators where excess supply pressure is wearing down heads prematurely, and inspecting or repairing backflow preventers so your system stays up to code.
We also handle the seasonal bookends: spring startup and fall shutdown. In spring, that means a full system check, testing every head, resetting the controller for the season ahead, and lubricating valves. In fall, we blow out every zone with compressed air ahead of the first freeze, which protects pipes and fittings from the cracking that comes when trapped water expands as it freezes. Skipping this step is one of the most common reasons properties end up facing costly spring repairs that a simple fall service would have prevented.
